Article 4 – General Membership

SECTION 1 – Composition
The General Membership of the Corporation shall consist of persons having an interest in Amateur Radio and shall be of four forms: full member, family member, student member and associate member. Full members, family members and student members have voting rights; associate members do not have voting rights. Family members are defined as spouse, parent or child living in the same household. Student members are defined as those persons currently enrolled and participating in full-time educational activity. Associate membership is available only to those persons residing outside a 50-mile radius of the nearest repeater installation of the Fort Venango Mike and Key Club, Inc. repeater system. Persons outside the 50-mile radius may choose full membership, family membership or student membership as appropriate if they desire. All persons interested in Amateur Radio shall be eligible for membership.

SECTION 2 – Dues and Assessments
Dues shall be established by the Board of Directors for each class of membership and shall be payable in advance of the corporation’s fiscal year. Assessments may be levied upon the General Membership as necessary for the business of the corporation as stated herein. The total of dues and assessments shall not exceed an amount set by the Board of Directors each year. Any member whose dues are delinquent for two or more months will lose his/her voting rights. Any member whose dues are delinquent six months or more shall be dropped from membership. The treasurer shall notify any such member that they are delinquent.

SECTION 3 – Meetings
Regular meetings for the benefit of the General Membership shall be held at a place, time and date that shall be fixed by the Board of Directors.

SECTION 4 – Quorum
A quorum for the transaction of business at any regular or special meeting of the General Membership shall consist of fifteen voting members or 60% of voting membership whichever is smaller.

SECTION 5 – Vote
Each member of the corporation shall be entitled to one vote and any act of a majority of the members present and voting at a meeting where a quorum is present shall constitute the action of the General Membership. Proxies shall be permitted.

SECTION 6 – Powers and Responsibilities
Members in good standing are encouraged to participate in club activities including serving on committees. The general membership is responsible for electing the Board of Directors, For approving extraordinary actions, such as amendment of the By-Laws and to enhance the standing of Amateur Radio in the general public as stated 97(1)(a) of the FCC Rules and Regulations.
